To establishing a political organisation of excellent behaviour and conduct,  formed on the basis of decency, dignity, honesty, integrity and respect, following the example of Saint Thomas More.

The organisation will be founded on the principles of


 Our aims will be defined by

the Right to Life, the Common Good and Social Justice.

The name of the organisation will be Solidarity and Conscience for Life.

It is our intention to register with the Electoral Commission as a political party and participate in the electoral process.

WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, being the National Party Officers of the Christian Democratic Party and Foundation Trustees, REAFFIRM the following:

WHEREAS the Christian Democratic Party was founded to build a sustainable Christian political platform, to stop the de-Christianisation of the United Kingdom and the European Union, and to promote Christian values in Parliament, registered with the Electoral Commission as a political party on 25th February 1999;

AND WHEREAS the First Declaration was made at Mount Saint Bernard Abbey on 29th September 2005 founding Solidarity and Conscience for Life with aims defined by the Right to Life, the Common Good and Social Justice;

AND WHEREAS Solidarity and Conscience for Life registered as a political party with the Electoral Commission on the 31st March 2007 under the name Resurgence;

AND WHEREAS Resurgence and the Christian Democratic Party merged on 1st May 2012.

FURTHER to the First Declaration, WE, the Foundation Trustees, will act as the Conscience and Guardians of the Christian Democratic Party and IN the Name of the Most Holy Trinity, from whom is all authority, and acknowledging our obligations to our Divine Lord Jesus Christ, Who sustained the faith of our fathers, are COMMITTED as follows:

We aim to enrich the lives of each individual citizen of the United Kingdom by renewing and strengthening the pursuit of the traditional moral virtues that emphasise common decency, fairness, justice and brotherhood;

We aim to create a kinder more just society, free from harm, where people can work and enjoy themselves in peace and harmony;

We aim for a Christian Democratic Resurgence, to rise again and restore values which will enhance our society, based on absolute and unchanging core values that are ethical;

We aim for a renewal in ethical and moral virtue and responsibility, such as the sanctity of all human life and the rule of just and reasonable law, based on enduring and traditional truths and values as enshrined in Catholic moral and social teaching;

We aim to protect and succour the traditional family, the indissolubility of marriage between a man and a woman, the right of parents to educate their children, and freedom of religion;

We aim to eradicate institutional and systemic dependency and operate on the basis of helping people to help themselves;

We will strive for social justice and the pursuit of happiness through virtue.

WE will be defined as:

Popular Catholic Action promoting and serving the Common Good; pursuing policies founded on self-determination, subsidiarity and solidarity; with FAITH, HOPE and CHARITY.

THE Foundation Trustees will operate within this framework and by reference to the CTS publication – Catholic Social Teaching, A Way In;

ANY vacancy arising within the Foundation Trustees will be filled by the serving Trustees from within the membership;

THE Chairman of the CDP Trust will have a casting vote in addition to an ordinary vote.
