Solidarity for Life

We are pleased to demonstrate our solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Ireland by supporting the Rally for Life in Dublin on Saturday, 10th March 2018.  The Rally starts at 2.00 pm, from Parnell Square, with a March through the centre of Dublin.  This will be the last chance to show public opposition to the proposal to repeal the Eighth Amendment to the Irish Constitution, which provides equal protection for mothers and their unborn children.

For more details go to:-

All the pro-life groups in Ireland have formed a collective to campaign for a NO vote in the upcoming referendum [expected before the end of May] that proposes the repeal of the Eighth Amendment so that politicians in the Oireachtas (the Dail and the Seanad) are given the power to legislate for the introduction of abortion to an extent that far exceeds the current laws in Great Britain.  The leaders of all the main political parties are pushing for this to happen and in the process are going against the official policies of their parties and against the wishes of their members.  The smaller socialist parties are united in cheering them on with their focus on women’s rights, that ignores the humanity of babies in the womb.  This is draconian, barbaric and brutal.

The Pro-Life Collective are mounting a formidable campaign that builds on their work over the last ten years.  Last year up to 80,000 marched and this year it is expected to be a larger turnout [I would not be surprised at 100,000] with inclement weather unlikely to deter the pro-life people who are steadily growing in number.  I have seen them before marching and standing their ground through gales, storms, snow and torrential rain.

This is a David and Goliath battle against the political elite and the main stream media.  The pro-life message is getting through due to street-information sessions and the biggest house-to-house canvass ever; billboard, poster and mobile advertising; and an extensive social media presence.  All this is being done on a limited budget compared to what the opposition commands.  George Soros has his finger-prints all over these illegal payments, with Amnesty International being ordered but refusing to return the money they have received from him.

The facts speak for themselves.  When people know what abortion really means they change their minds.  Public polls indicate that support for introducing abortion is falling.  Especially when it is clear that the prospect is for abortion for any reason and for decriminalizing the provision of abortion tablets.

It is also becoming clear that the whole political process has been a sham.  The Citizen’s Assembly that made extreme recommendations was manipulated, with appointments that breached rules and practices.  The Irish Government was told that a panel of one hundred citizens could never be representative of the whole population.  The ‘evidence’ given to the Assembly was extremely selective.  The Oireachtas Abortion Committee that considered those recommendations was biased, for example claiming that they could not find any pro-life doctors.  Abortion providers were allowed to push their own agendas and far outnumbered  pro-life advocates.  The more the people know this, the more their low opinion of politicians falls even lower.

This is an important factor, especially for people who are undecided.  The political elite is saying the protections put in to the Constitution by the people were wrong.  Only they are capable of deciding this matter.  They are telling the people, “trust us we are politicians”, but the people do not trust them for a whole range of reasons.  People will vote NO because they do not like the political class.  This will be Ireland’s Brexit and Trump Election, when the people revolt.  They did it with the Nice and Lisbon treaties referenda; and they can do it for a third time.  But this time it will not be reversed with them made to vote again.

The Constitution belongs to the people (we the people) and its preamble spells out clearly and carefully that it was adopted in the name of the Holy Trinity.  It protects the people from political elites. It will not be easily conceded.

That is also important.  This referendum should not be taking place at all.  If the imminent Supreme Court decision rules that the rights of the unborn are much wider than the Eighth Amendment, then the referendum is in question.  The pro-abortion campaigners will continue to howl for its repeal.  If the referendum goes ahead and is defeated they will be silenced for ever.

The domino effect comes in to play and has an impact in Northern Ireland and for us in Great Britain.  A NO vote will also be welcomed in Malta and Poland, and by pro-lifers throughout the EU.  The ripples will also reach across the Atlantic Ocean to the USA and the UN.  There is everything to play for.  We are all Irish now.

I look forward to meeting you at the Rally.  But if you are not able to get you can still act in solidarity.  You can donate and you can pray.

God our Father, giver of life, we entrust Ireland to your loving care.

Reclaim this land for Your glory and dwell among your people.

Send your Holy Spirit to touch the hearts of our politicians.

Open their eyes to the humanity of the unborn child.

Remind your people that there can never be true peace in our land

without peace in the womb.

Through the intercession of Mary, the mother of Jesus,

grant us the courage to reject the ‘culture of death’.

Lead us into a new era of peace and respect for life.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Saint Patrick, Patron of Ireland, pray for us.
